We’re looking for a Member Engagement Officer. The member engagement team is the first point of contact for union members, and team members share the duties listed below under a roster structure.

The successful applicant will be able to –

• communicate confidently and efficiently with union staff, members and stakeholders
• undertake persuasive / organising conversations
• conduct outbound member contact, primarily over the telephone
• respond to inbound member and non-member queries
• provide immediate industrial triage and basic advice to members and non-members
• ensure members feel supported while setting realistic expectations
• escalate matters to the Industrial team when needed
• conduct general office administrative duties including database management
• assist with union organising and campaigns

We’re looking for applicants who –

• support the union’s values and strategies
• enjoy working as part of a small team
• maintain accurate records in a timely manner
• communicate with colleagues, members and potential members in a professional, friendly manner
• remain composed when helping members who may be in a distressed or agitated state
• handle objections, grievances and sensitive information with maturity and discretion
• have strong computer skills

This is a permanent part time role, 2-3 days per week, based in Unley.

The salary range is $35.05 – $44.16 per hour depending on skills and experience. The ASU pays 11.5% superannuation, with additional employee and employer contributions available. Regular RDOs and 3 additional grace days over the Christmas – New Year period are provided.
