Asbestos victim Fred Gibbs, the face of the Make James Hardie Pay campaign, died on Monday aged 78 in his hometown of Moe, in Victoria.

The ACTU is saddened by the passing of Fred Gibbs, who generously allowed the
union movement to use his image in materials during the Make James Hardie Pay
campaign.

The ACTU expresses its deepest sympathies to his family and acknowledges his
important role in the fight for justice for asbestos victims, not only in
Australia but internationally.
