Mansour Osanloo of the Tehran and Suburbs Workers’ Bus Company, Sherkate Vahed, was abducted on Tuesday 10 July, severely beaten and taken to an unknown destination. There is strong reason to believe the authorities were involved. ACTU is calling on affiliates to join the ITF and ITUC, and other unionists around the world to add our voices in support and show solidarity with Iranian workers to demand Mansour Asanloo’s safety and immediate release.
An ACTU delegation of union officials from RTBU, MUA and Unions ACT will seek an audience with the Iranian Ambassador and deliver a letter of protest at the Iranian Embassy, 25 Culgoa Circuit, O’Malley, Canberra on Thursday 9 August from 12.30pm -1.30pm.
Members of Iranian community will also be joining the union delegation on the 9th in Canberra.
In addition, members of the solidarity Committee with Iranian Workers-Australia has organised for a vigil outside the NSW Parliament House, Macquarie Street in Sydney from 11am-1pm on Saturday August 11th.
