Job Purpose

The ACTU Call Centre can be the first point of contact for union members and non-members. Organisers are required to identify organising leads for unions; provide industrial and membership services information and advice to callers; and conduct member retention campaigns and polling/market research.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Identify organising opportunities for Australian unions
  • Provide accurate advice and information to union members and non-members
    contacting the ACTU Call Centre
  • Refer callers onto the relevant union or service provider
  • Conduct ongoing polling and specific outbound market research campaigns
  • Some basic web and database development
  • Key competencies

  • A demonstrable commitment to unions and social justice
  • An understanding of the industrial relations system in Australia
  • Research skills including internet based research
  • IT literacy, Microsoft Access and advantage
  • A self starter and able to work without close supervision
  • The ability to work flexible hours
  • Experience and education

  • Experience in a call centre or a union environment is highly desirable
  • Demonstrable activity with a union or other social justice organisation
  • Tertiary qualified or close to completion of under-graduate degree an
    advantage
